Umberto Giannini Creme de Curl Control Cream Review

One really bad beauty blogger habit is that I mainly focus on buying and trying out interesting looking or sounding makeup and skincare items, and ignore haircare completely. Don't ask me why because I can't seem to come up with an answer, although hopefully I'm starting to break this habit and try a couple of hair products out too. This brings us to my first new haircare product in a long time: the Umberto Giannini Creme de Curl Control Cream

But why did I start with this product? If I'm honest, it was the packaging; I mean it's just freakin' adorable! I love how the whole Curl Control collection is styled in the same way; the bubblegum pink lid and tube and the pretty curly writing that reminds me of some sort of aesthetic thing on Tumblr that instantly makes me envious!

As per usual with my reviews, I often start with mentioning the smell of the product as that's the thing that hits me first, and golly gosh was I impressed with the scent of this! It honestly smells like something that's come out of a high end salon it smells that good! In fact, I would probably wear this scent as a perfume if I could!

On application it's very lightweight and not at all sticky, which is a really nice thing to see in a product like this as I'm far too used to using 'curl controlling' products that are incredibly heavy, sticky and just generally gloopy. The guidelines are to apply onto towel dried hair, which I also found quite interesting and different, as most products like this advise to apply after you've dried your hair completely. I thought this worked really well, as it sunk into the hair during drying much more efficiently.

In terms of actually controlling my curls, which is effectively its main purpose, it does an amazing job - perhaps even too amazing! Once my hair had dried, I was left with really natural and healthy looking curls. I was so shocked that a £7.00 product gave such good results! The only negatives I found were honestly due to my own personal preference as to how I like my hair. I prefer mine to have that slight bit of weight to it, especially around the top of my head, but I felt that this cream took that out a bit. Due to this, I just use the product on the ends of my hair. However, if you're someone who prefers being left with lightweight and bouncy curls, then this product would be ideal for you!

Overall I'm unbelievably impressed by this product; it's become a staple in my haircare routine (not that there is much of one to be honest, but hopefully that'll be changing very soon - if you'd like an updated post on it in the future do let me know in the comments!) and I'm still super happy with it to this day.

I hope you're very well and enjoying the start of spring wherever you are!
