A Bunch of Makeup First Impressions

To me, makeup first impressions are a big deal. Ultimately, if I don't like how a product looks or performs immediately, then I won't like it at all, as in my opinion if it doesn't look or feel good straight away then what's the point in applying it again?

And so here are my first impressions of a bundle of products that I've used recently. I plan to follow up this post with full reviews of each product, and so keep your eyes peeled on social media for them, and let's get started...

I've had this product in my collection for a while now, and I've been meaning to give it a go, so I thought what better time to try it out then for this post! The first thing I want to comment on, is the packaging: it sucks. Like, really sucks. It feels very cheap and flimsy, and also doesn't protect the product very well as when I opened it, the whole blush stick nearly fell out! Another little heads up is that it's very pigmented; so much so that I was a little alarmed by the pink circle that was left on my face after one tiny little dab of product. But, luckily, this formula blends out like a dream! I was so shocked, and I absolutely adored the finish that I got after blending; it left me with such a pretty natural flush that really complimented my blue eyes and pale skin. It didn't look clown-ish at all!

I had really high expectations for this highlighter, and although I was a little bummed out that the pan doesn't quite sit in the packaging perfectly, as you can see in the photo above, I was willing to overlook it as I knew I'd love it. However... initially I just wasn't impressed. I just couldn't get the normal blinding glow that I'm so used to, even though I dipped into the product with my brush at least five times. What's really strange though is, even though I did my makeup in good natural light like I always do, as soon as I stepped outside I had lovely, glowy cheekbones! I honestly don't know what happened there, but I'm definitely going to give this highlighter another shot.

This being a cult fave in the beauty community, I had super high expectations, and I'm really happy to say that they were definitely lived up to! This is now my holy grail brow product I love it so much! The spoolie isn't scratchy, and the tapered end that has the product is the perfect shape for getting a really sharp brow look. It's very pigmented, but not too much which makes it easily buildable for natural everyday brows or killer night-out brows.

I've been wanting to try this out for a long time too, and I really enjoy it! I reckon I need to try it out for a bit longer though, as even though the mattes were lovely, I only got to try out a couple of the shades. Also, I found that the metallics and shimmers were quite disappointing if applied with a dry brush, and so I want to test them out with a wet brush instead to see whether their shimmer is enhanced or not. I managed to create a lovely eye look though, and so my first impressions for this palette overall are more on the positive side!

I'm also super excited to announce that this is actually a collab post with home decor blogger Randie - writer of Radiant Homes ! She has some super inspirational content on her site, including storage ideas, home updates and more! So go and give her some love over on her blog as she really deserves it!

I hope you liked reading this week's post, and wherever you are in the world, I hope the weather treated you well and things are starting to go back to normal!

Lots of love
